About the Job
Beverly Hospital, located in Beverly Massachusetts is part of the Beth Israel Lahey Health System. The Beverly PACU consists of 15 PACU bays, 10 Pre-op holding bays, and 6 Surgical Day Care bays. The Perianesthesia Nurse Team Leader is responsible for assisting with maximizing efficiency of patient flow through the Perianesthesia department. The Perianesthesia Nurse Team Leader directs other members of the Perianesthesia Department?s interdisciplinary team to assist in the coordination and advancement of care throughout the patient experience. In addition, the Perianesthesia Nurse Team Leader collaborates with other departments such as housekeeping, transport and admitting, to coordinate resources to facilitate and maximize throughput.
The Perianesthesia Nurse Team Leaders time will be spent directing and monitoring patient flow in a complex, high patient volume setting. The Perianesthesia Nurse Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the majority of Perianesthesia beds which includes the combined units of Pre-op holding, PACU, and Surgical Day Care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
The Perianesthesia Nurse Team Leader will promote a team philosophy and interdisciplinary collaboration among staff to foster a continuum of care for the perioperative patient.
Resolving conflict related to operational issues (including RNs and MDs)
Facilitates debriefings after conflict arises to ensure that all stakeholders have an opportunity to review concerns
Demonstrate respectful communication
Collaborates with all resources to support through put of patients
Evaluates capacity and identifies capacity concerns early and keeps the Nurse Manager or designee informed
Collaborates with key departments to coordinate resources and communication. To include, but are not limited to: Admitting, Chief of Anesthesia, Transport, etc.
Works with an interdisciplinary Perioperative Department team to ensure disposition of patients, discharges or bed requests to inpatient units. Monitors to ensure the hand off process is completed in a timely manner
Provides direct patient care as needed.
Assist with making the weekly nursing assignment for all areas (PACU, Pre-op holding, SDC).
Ensure medication count for all three Pyxis machines (PACU, SDC, Pre-op holding) are done weekly
Ensure that code cart (Adult and Pediatric) checks are done daily
Participates as a member of the PACU Unit Practice Council
Cross covers when the Perianesthesia Flow Nurse Team Leader is off
36 hours per week, 4 9 hour shifts, 8:30am-6:00pm. No call required.

Education: BSN preferred
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current MA RN license, BCLS, ACL, PALS required,
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Communicates clearly and effectively with all team members. Has the physical capacity/ability to move patients and equipment as patient care needs indicate.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years Perianesthesia/Perioperative nursing experience required. EPIC experience is strongly preferred.
