About the Job

Position Summary:                

The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for directing the daily operations and staff of the Pharmacy Department in a manner that assures a safe, efficient and controlled drug distribution system. The Operations Manager performs all duties in compliance with Northeast Hospital Corporation’s policies, state and federal laws, The Joint Commission and all other pertinent regulatory agencies. All responsibilities are accomplished in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership/management team under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy. 


The Pharmacy Operations Manager will be an expert in pharmacy operations and medication-use systems. This Manager will take on multiple responsibilities in the areas of pharmacy operations, technology and automation, quality improvement, compliance, staff oversight and training, medication compounding and preparation and education. 


The Pharmacy Operations Manager formulates and implements the operational goals and objectives of the pharmacy. Manages projects to meet needs and goals of the department.  Applies lean principals to deliver efficient and excellent care.


The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing personnel, programs, services, and operations. Responsible for managing employees, including selection and performance management of direct reports. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns. Partners with other Department Managers to ensure pharmacy purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and overall supply chain management systems are operating efficiently. Finally, the incumbent will lead, manage, and coordinate pharmacy operations, medication use systems, planning and project management, and human resource management.

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy
  • Advanced degree in pharmacy or business preferred
  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of hospital clinical pharmacy experience, including at least 1 year supervisory, lead, managerial or equivalent.
  • Exceptional communication skills



  • Current Pharmacist License from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy
  • Board Certified Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) preferred
