About the Job


Position Summary:  Under the general supervision of the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the Dietitian Specialist with ambulatory coverage assesses the nutritional status, develops interventions and care plans for the outpatient nutrition clinic. The Dietitian Specialist with ambulatory coverage is also responsible for maintaining their patient schedule, and ensuring compliant billing practices. The Dietitian Specialist with ambulatory coverage participates and leads classes in their specialty area and participates in support groups. 


The specialty that this position is to focus on is inflammatory bowel disease and other gastrointestinal disorders. Other MNT conditions, including but not limited to, allergy management, diabetes, malnutrition, obesity, tube feeding management are all within the scope of this position as well. The main specialty of this position will be IBD and other gastrointestinal disorders. The position will require close collaboration with the physicians in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center to provide education and guidance to patients on diets to treat Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.  The diets used to treat IBD include: 

o Mediterranean Diet

o Anti-Inflammatory Diet (IBD-AID)

o Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)

o Low FODMAP Diet

o Low Fiber / Low Residue Diet

o Gluten-Free / Lactose-Free

o Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet (CDED)


The dietitian specialist will have familiarity with the diets listed and an interest in focusing, developing, and growing in competency for the benefit of patient care. The dietitian specialist will develop education materials, and participation in personal and colleague education, including the education on dietetic interns and physician staff.  


Part Time

20 Hours per week

4 Days per week

5 Hours per Day 9:00 A.M. - 2:30 P.M.
