Job Description

Position Summary:

The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing is responsible for the oversight and functions of the Medical Staff Services Department. The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing provides leadership, expertise and support for all functions of Medical Staff Services Department. The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing processes Initial Applications and Reappointment applications to the Medical Staff. Provides direct supervision to all staff in the department, including yearly reviews, scheduling, training and mentoring to ensure that the processes of the office are conducted in an appropriate, effective and timely manner. Manages the appropriate alignment of credentialing practices and services and medical staff services and practices to best support our medical staff and the processes of Physician Recruitement, Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Legal Services and other departments. Works with leaders in other departments to realize the initiatives of the facility as related to the Department of Medical Staff Services. Manages the budget, accounts payable, KRONOS. Communicates and enforces compliance with the work place rules and regulations of NHC. The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing provides support to the Chairman of Credentials, Department Chiefs, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff President and serves as the primary contact for the internal and external sources for medical staff and credentialing processes including the PHO, Northeast Medical Practices, Physician Recruitment and other community providers and/or private practices as well as the hospitalist program. The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing is solely responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) and is responsible for remaining abreast of regulatory and licensing rules and regulations, and changes, as well as maintaining his/her CPCS (Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist certification) and serves as the primary contact during Joint Commission surveys as they relate to the processes of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing, organizes, interprets and communicates QVR information to department chiefs, Chairman of Credentials Committee and the Chief Medical Officer, as appropriate. Works with Performance Improvement onan ongoing basis on OPPE (Ongoing Performance Practice Evaluations). The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing provides primary analytic focus to application information, quality information, malpractice claim information and other competency measures to ensure that quality medical staff members are appointed to the Medical Staff, collates information for presentation to Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and the Quality Care Committee for approval and communicates information to various committees, department heads, departments and other entities, as appropriate. Organizes, attends, supports and contributes (as appropriate), to Medical Executive Committee meetings and Bylaws Committee meetings, as well as interdepartmental meetings. Provides knowledgeable support to the Medical Staff President, helps the Medical Staff President formulate and organize his/her agenda for Medical Executive Committee.
The Manager of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing will provide expertise and guidance to the members of the Medical Staff Services Department and the organized Medical Staff to ensure that regulatory requirements are met and that the Bylaws/Rules and Regulations of the organized Medical Staff, as they pertain to the Medical Staff/Credentialing are adhered to as well as providing primary over site for the development and maintenance of medical staff applications, delineation of privileges forms, policy and procedures, as well as other forms or documents as needed to meet the needs of the department and organization. Will initiate and drive policy, will provide over site for the regulatory requirements accuracy of information within our software and works closely with the Medical Staff Data Coordinator to ensure such accuracy. Will help to develop and oversee reports that are developed for other departments to ensure accuracy. Will help to organize and participate in Medical Staff elections. Will organize or supervise the organization of training programs (ACLS) for medical staff members and seek to maintain appropriate documentation on providers to meet our organizational requirements. Will enact administrative suspensions, in collaboration with the Medical Staff President and or the Chief Medical Officer, Will work with the administration of NHC and Lahey Health Systems, as appropriate. Will conduct herself/himself with the highest level of professional integrity and maintain strict guidelines of confidentiality that will be emulated within the Medical Staff Services Department by other staff members.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Bachelors of Science in related field preferred and/or 5 years experience working in a Medical Staff Services department performing credentialing functions at a supervisory level.

Certification/License:

CPCS and CPCSM preferred. Scheduled Hours This is a full time, 40 hour exempt position.
